stress & meds

Well this past week has been filled with events--which in a normal time would likely be fun but this week was filled with the horrors of American healthcare and the conundrum of our overworked society. wow this sounds boring!

So here's the story... last week when I got back from Seattle (my 4th time up there in 8 weeks-crazy) I started having really bad abdominal pains. I went to my doctor and it was at that point I realized that while in the doctor's office there can be nothing done to help you! He had my lie on the table and poked my stomach all over, saying "does this hhurt, does this hurt?" Um YES it hurts! That's why I'm here idiot! At that point I realized if anything was terribly wrong I'd just have to go to the hospital anyways.

So Tuesday my pain was so bad Mitch's mom took me to the ER... they did blood tests, ultrasounds, and more. The result? They said all my levels were completely normal and they couldn't see anything wrong! Alas, they put my on a nice little pill called Protonix and said I likely have a stress-induced gastric esophogeal reflux, meaning a mild type of ulcer or something. Nothing like the American life--you work too much, get sick, and they don't tell you to stop working but to take a pill!
