Alternative Family Nights for Couples

So I find myself puzzled every week in regards to FHE. Here are my typical thought-processes—usually it’s one or the other every week:
1) Crap, it’s Tuesday morning and we forgot to do FHE! or 2) Let’s just sing a song and read an Ensign article again... or my personal favorite 3) No thought whatsoever about FHE until that Sunday at church.

This Monday I was lucky enough to remember and actually planned a fun lesson. Naturally it started with a couple blurbs from an Ensign article about overcoming stress and working your way through tribulation by staying the course. Then I turned off all the lights and strung a piece of ribbon from the kitchen to the dining room through the living room and bathroom, and into the bedroom. I made Mitch close his eyes and told him to follow the ribbon to its end. As he starting walking I threw a bunch of socks, blankets, pillows, etc. at him (pretty hard!) to try to get him off his course. It was so much fun—well at least for me. But it really had a good meaning. Try it with your husbands and then have a sock-throwing fight afterwards :)

I love sock fights!! We used to do them when I was growing up. We just went to the "big room" downstairs and threw socks to our hearts content. It was great fun.
