Good Friends and Columbus Day??

This weekend one of my best friends in the world was in town--Leanne. And luckily, amongst all the friends she has in Utah, she decided to stay at our place for a night! I think when you're married you start to look nostalgically upon slumber parties and late-night girl chats, so when she said she would be here, I couldn't have been happier. After a fab dinner at Trio with Amber (SLC's best restaurant, btw), Lea and I headed home with her sister Alisa. We chatted until like 2am! It was so pathetic when I told Leanne it had been like 2 years since I'd stayed up that late!! I am a lame old married woman. I always joke that I lead the life of a 35-year-old woman, but sadly it is true.

On another note, I have fall break this week at the U, meaning instead of having class I have mounds of reading to accomplish. So today, rather than heading off to class, I headed out to get some errands done. I pulled up to the bank with checks/deposit slips ready and got up to the door and found myself completely confused. Where are all the people? Closed? What?? Thank you Columbus Day. Sometimes I really wish I worked for a bank.

Leanne! Love that girl. She needs a blog.

Yes, Columbus Day. A girl I supervise asked me the other day if we get Columbus Day & Veteran's Day off. I had to hold back the laughs as I answered no. I guess I can kind of see it, since we work in financial services, but we aren't Wells Fargo or San Diego County School District, so we work.

I too was appalled when I found out that one of America's bedrock institutions, the shopping mall, would not be closed for this great holiday. I don't know what this country is coming to....

Don't worry. You don't have to work at a Bank to get Columbus Day off--Just GSP. Gosh I love this place! (we also had 1/2 day Friday)

For the first time in my life, I had Columbus Day off. Working for a bank IS divine. (We also had half day Friday, as we do before every Monday off.)
PS Elise totally got an awesome deal to come out and then had to end up canceling it due to unforeseen events. So sad. I hope she can come out soon! Let me know if you're ever in NY!
