3 Months

On Tuesday Emerson turned 3 months old. What a sweet boy he is. Other mothers always told me you think your own baby is the cutest in the world and it is so true! I think he is so adorable… maybe it’s because he always smiles when I come near him. This past month:

- He is getting very talkative and loves having little cooing conversations with Mitch and me.

- He eats every 3 hours during the day.

- He falls asleep everyday in his stroller when I run at the park. That jolting movement must be soothing.

- Every morning we have playtime which includes reading, music, toys, and exercises. - He loves sitting in his Bumbo, especially up on the counter while I cook.

- He loves bathtime; he starts laughing and kicking his legs like crazy when he gets in the water.

- He sleeps really well at night (8pm – 7am with one feeding around 3am) but needs us to rock him for his daytime naps. I’ve been experimenting with blacking out his nursery and using white noise to see if he can put himself to sleep during the day. I think the light keeps him so stimulated that he doesn’t want to sleep. Any advice here?

- When we have tummy time, he pushes up on his hands to look around, almost like a little push up. It’s so cute! (The other half of the time he spits up from the pressure on his tummy, even if it’s 1 or 2 hours after he’s eaten! How do you keep that from happening?)

You just said the magic words: blackout curtains & white noise. That makes me sleep like a baby.

I hope the G on his sweatsuit stands for gangsta.

I had the same problem trying to get Lola down for daytime naps. Have you tried swaddling him? That has really worked with Lola. She naps like a champ now. We also have a little space heater that provides the ambient noise. It seems to really work for her. I want to meet this adorable little man of yours!

He is SO cute and I can't believe he's already 3 months. Time flies. That's great that is doing so well at night... naps are probably always a little harder to get in snyc. I can't really remember what came easier at first with Olivia. Crazy how we forget everything so quickly. Probably why moms go through pregnancy over and over and over! :) But, if all else fails, I definitely am a believer in letting them cry it out. It WILL work and it's sooo worth it. I had to do it with Olivia a little bit and she has been a dream sleeper the entire 19 months of her life. Just an idea!

I just love his big eyes! Happy 3 months E. I can't believe Hannah is almost 4 months old already. Stop growing little ones!

Cute cute cute!! Around 3 months is when they start figuring out their nap schedule. Usually around 9, 1 and one in the afternoon. For naps I read the book healthy sleep habits happy baby and they say to let them cry for up to about 20 minutes with soothing in between if needed, and it totally works with our little guy. I guess if you are against crying then keep rocking him. But you will get to a point where you want to be able to just set them down and walk out, especially when you have another and don't have the time to rock them to sleep for every nap. After a few days or times of doing it, they will usually figure it out that you aren't coming back in and will learn to fall asleep on their own when you put them down w/o any crying. Anyway, good luck, you'll figure it out what works best for you!

I'd go for black-out curtains and white noise too. It is key for Brig!
