A couple weeks ago, Mitch started getting really intense headaches at work. He's been working so much--staying late, going in early, and working from home. On top of that he has church and family time, making him one busy guy. I feel terrible when he has to work a 10 hour day and then top it off with 4 hours of meetings. He works so hard and his headaches are made much worse when he's really busy and/or stressed. A couple days after the headaches started, he began getting a fever and really bad neck pain as well. We think it may be a sinus infection? We went hiking this weekend and Mitch could barely go 1/2 mile, which is unheard of. I've never seen him get tired on a hike, ever. I'm always the one needing a break. He has an appointment with the doctor today, so I'm praying that they can offer some help or good advice.
Then on Saturday night Emerson started feeling really sick... he got a bad fever when we were at a friend's party, and threw up twice. Mitch took him home to bed early and he woke up Sunday with a fever still and also had a sore throat. Then I started feeling sick with a bad headache and extreme queasiness. So our house apparently has some kind of virus right now... coupled with Mitch's work stress and sickness, we are a little worried. Yesterday I wanted to help my sick guys, but felt a little inadequate when I could do no more than lie around to keep from passing out. Today I'm feeling much better but poor Emerson still has a bad sore throat. Luckily the fever is gone, but there is nothing more sad than seeing your baby in pain. I'm hoping he gets through this quickly. I've been sanitizing and laundering all day, determined to kill those germs that made our fam sick. (ps, isn't it July? Who gets the flu in July?)

You poor family! I hate being sick when its summer. I had sinus infections all year that were caused by really bad allergies. I hope you all feel much better!!
I'm sorry! I hate when the baby throws up. They look at you like "what's going on?" Poor guy! I sure hope you all get feeling better soon. Being sick in the summer isn't fair!
The flu passed through Brett's family and then mine these last few weeks. I have heard of a lot of people getting it. Ugh! It is totally the worst to see your kids suffering through it. I hope everyone stays healthy now and Mitch can get some time to relax and get those headaches under control.
On a lighter note, it was so fun to run into you at Gateway this past weekend. I wish we had had more time to talk. You look fabulous, as always!
Oh man! I hope you get feeling better soon! Well... hopefully you're all better by now! It's been a few days. July is not the time for sickness- you are right!
How can you tell when a baby has a sore throat? Sometimes I wonder with Sarah, but I am not sure. Do you look at it? Does it feel swollen?
I am so sorry. Your family was not just sick, they were Sick with a capital 'S'. Get well.
Candice, about the sore throat, you can use the back of a spoon to push their tongue down and see if there are bumps and/or redness. A small flashlight helps to look back there. Also, Emerson would seems fine and then whenever he yawned or made a sound he would start moaning in pain (also he didn't want anything in his mouth like he normally does). Good luck ;)
So sorry! Hope you all get better soon!
Our whole family got sick with a 24-flu that was awful! Thank goodness Ada didn't get it. And I wouldn't let it stop me from going to the beach...that's a funny story I'll save for another time haha
