Halloween

The best part of Halloween this year in MN was no snow! It was actually warm enough for the kids to wear their costumes without coats. I’ve heard that a lot of people here plan their kids’ costumes to be worn with a coat under. Fun stuff.

It felt like Halloween was 3 weeks long because I had a Halloween party for the A-days girls, joy school and preschool Halloween parties for Emerson, a ward trunk or treat, and then finally Halloween on the 31st. Emerson didn’t get sick of his Spiderman costume at all. In fact we had to hide it from him so he wouldn’t beg to be wearing it every day! Here he is with his best friend Tanner. Jess and I had them both go as superheroes and they loved running around chasing the “bad guys”. These boys are in nursery, joy school, and preschool together so they see each other a lot and love hanging out.

Here we are at the trunk or treat. I was a witch again. Pretty boring, this is the 3rd or 4th year in a row, but the kids loved it. My face was painted green but it wore off by the end of the night. I also had orange and green paint streaks in my hair, cobwebs, and some stripey tights to go with my hat. Emerson seriously loved when I looked crazy. It was a fun night! Some guys in our ward did smoke and ice machines along with scary music for the trunk or treaters.

We had a lot of fun at our local Halloween store trying on hats and wigs earlier in the week! Emerson loved the fireman hat best.IMG_9983

Genevieve was our good witch. We loved her little hat!IMG_9993

We made these caramel apple ciders all month at our Halloween and other get-togethers. They are delicious. Go try them! (Apple cider, caramel syrup, whipped cream.)IMG_9679

I also made a pumpkin spice cake with a caramel frosting filling. I blame all these sweets on my pregnancy but really I just have a terrible sweet tooth.

Emerson’s friends at preschool gave out little gifts. I thought this one was funny:IMG_0039.JPG (2)

On Halloween in the evening our friends had a little party. We let the kids eat homemade donuts and go crazy before putting them to bed. Then the adults played mafia. That game is always hilarious.IMG_0046.JPG (2)

And the worst part? Having to go through Emerson’s treats with him and tell him which ones were “yucky, don’t eat” AKA the peanut candies which is basically ALL of them these days! Poor kid and his allergy!

Happy belated Halloween!

Sad... that would be so rough. They get so attached to their loot.

How about Vieve's witch had is adorable! Thankfully, the kids didn't even need a jacket here on Halloween!
