Playing Inside

Hello blog world! We have been very busy the past two months and my blog has been neglected. I really like to keep it (somewhat) updated to have a little record of our family doings. Our first catch up post is about playing inside… with the coldest and worst winter Minnesotans say they’ve had in 30 years, we’ve definitely had lots of days of playing indoors, playdates, hot cocoa, and racking our brains to think of fun new inside activities. Some of our favorites include school time, reading (Emerson learned to read at the beginning of the winter and it’s been so fun!), Play Doh (we love making rockets and cars and crowns and animals), Legos (my kids each got several Lego tubs for Christmas and they’ve been a huge hit!), building blocks, dress-up (Emerson loves to be a ninja or a superhero and Vieve loves to be a princess or “Superhero Genevieve” as she calls it with her pink cape), baking, and dancing to the Frozen and Mary Poppins soundtracks. Mary Poppins is the kids favorite movie and they could listen to that music over and over! We love singing and dancing to it.

We love babysitting Rory too... She and Henry are the easiest babes!

This girl is in love with her baby doll. She takes it everywhere.

The kids play Play Doh almost every day. We love it even though it’s a pain to clean up. It’s so fun and so great for their imaginations.

Henry is the happiest!

Ninja moves. All day every day. I’m often called the captain of his Ninja team whereby I must give him training assignments and orders. It makes me laugh so much. This kid has the best imagination. 

Sweet + sassy Vieve! She’s so so sweet when she’s happy, and so so sassy when she’s not! ;)

And this kid is as kind and happy as can be. Love my little goofball. Every day when the other kids go down we get a little play time together before his quiet time.

One of the kids’ favorite new games is “sleeping” on the stair landing. Whenever I’m coming they say “oh no pretend you’re sleeping mom’s coming!” It’s so funny. These two play together all day and I love it.

Babysitting sleepovers are also fun ;) 

A fun Minnesota indoor game – food coloring mixed with snow. My kids love this one.

Henry loves these little wood puzzles. Emerson’s newest obsession is big kid puzzles. We love them and he’s actually really good at them.

Oh and another Minnesota goodie (everyone here does this) – let your kids ride their bikes inside the garage. Seriously I can’t believe we live here. POOR KIDS!

Fairies are another of Vieve’s favorite dress up costumes.         

And how could I forget Chick Fil A? We meet up every week here with a bunch of moms, let our kids run wild in the play area, and try to enjoy some adult conversation whilst being sporadically pulled every direction by one child or another ;)

This is the corner we take over each time we go. And with a bunch of moms, winter gear, kids, and high chairs it either looks like total chaos or a total mom party. I prefer to think of it as the latter.

And there’s a snippet of some indoor activities. My kids also love the indoor pool and the indoor play place called the Maze at our community center. Oh Minnesota, will you ever be warm again? You are giving me Seasonal Affective Disorder. Please spring, c’mon!
