On other notes, we are having a housewarming party on Saturday at our new place (let me know if you can make it an I'll send you the address) and I am making cupcakes that will attempt to look like this one. No doubt they won't look as good, but I figure if I aim really high I'll get at least an average cupcake. Anyone know how to perfect these?

That cupcake looks delicious. There is this book that is all vegan cupcake recipes (oh the things you find when you are bored at work) and they look really good. You should check it out: Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World (you can see the pictures on Amazon).
