A couple months ago my friend Leanne made a “Best-Of” book about BYU for her sister heading down for freshman year. She wanted the book to include tips about campus, good places to heat, social queues, etc. I ran across this the other day as I was looking for advice for someone. Oh the nostalgia for BYU! I was so excited to graduate but now I miss it so much. I’m not sure of everything that was included in Leanne’s final book for Vanessa, but here are my recommendations.Best Way to Get a "Big" Calling in Your Freshman Ward: Bear your testimony the first Sunday
Best Way to Avoid Freshman 15: Limit desserts to once a week at dining halls, opt for the wrap-bar at dinner (rather than the hot food), and no snacks in the dorm!
Best Place to Study (see boys): 3rd floor, Library
Best Place to Really Study: 1st floor, Library
Best Way to Avoid Dorm-induced Feelings of Confinement: Rearrange furniture in your dorm room at least every other month
Best Dorm Outdoor Nighttime Activity: Movies on Laptops with tons of blankets out on the grass
Best Cheap Dessert: Smuggle Reese’s Pieces out of dining hall in a napkin
Best Not-cheap Dessert: Fro-Yo or Pudding on the Rice
Best Hike: Stewart Falls
How you know you’re really a Zoobie: playing 4-square
Favorite Salad: Cafe Rio Pork Salad w/House Dressing
Best Place to find a Husband your Sophomore Year: Liberty Square
Fail proof way to get academic probation: Steal shower curtains from other dorm bathrooms, post pictures online
Hot Tub Extraordinaire: The Omni
Best run: Provo River Trail
Best Social Hour in the Dorms: 6-7pm in the Cannon Center
Best place to always look hot: CougarEat / Wilk
Must-know dorm laundry tip: Don't leave your laundry unattended or it WILL get stolen
Best Saturday morning food: Waffles in the Cannon Center
Optimal class schedule: 11am - 2pm

Ok- it was honor code probation, not academic probation. And we didn't post the pictures online, someone else did. And it is not something I am proud of, at all. I actually still feel really bad about it.
The Omni does have the best hot tub, but since a lot of freshman don't have cars, the hot tub at the Riv is good, because it is with in walking distance.
Right, don't leave laundry unattended. And the best time to do laundry is 2:00 am, like we did, or on Sunday.
By Saturday morning breakfast, I hope you mean 2:00 pm.
And the worst mistake you can make is thinking because you have been going to seminary at 6:00 for the past four years, 8:00 classes will be easy to get to. I promise, you will miss every single one!
HaHa! I love it - I got married the summer after I lived in Liberty Square (my sophomore year)...except that is not where it met my husband. :-) And I totally had an 11am-2pm MWF class schedule and no work at all my freshman year - life used to be so wonderful. :-)
haha I was about to post the same first paragraph as Elise. Not that I know anything about that sort of thing....but I've heard it's not a good idea
