3 Years!!

Yesterday was our 3 year anniversary! To celebrate on Saturday night we went to the Deer Valley Music Festival in Park City to see the Utah Symphony and Gladys Knight. It was such a great combination of classical music, 60s soul and summer mountain air. I saw Gladys a long time ago with (eek) ALL 4 ONE (!!) at the Stadium of Fire circa '98... this time was definitely much better. She sang her classics, like Leaving on a Midnight Train to Georgia, as well as some Ella Fitzgerald and even Boyz II Men! We had a great time.

I honestly cannot believe how three years have gone by! Everyday I feel so lucky to be married to Mitch; I love him so much and how great is is to me, it makes me want to cry. Also how he evens out my crazy personality...

Here are some funny and true comments we received from people when we told them it was our anniversary yesterday:
-"Whoa, 3 years?? You must have gotten married young."
-"Wow, did you ever think you'd make it this long??" (From our RELIEF SOCIETY president, to which I responded, "Yes, actually I did.")
-"That's really a long time, wow. You guys need to start having kids." (This was said with such a seriousness, it offended me! So I said with a really somber face, "Actually we've been trying for a couple years and it's been pretty hard for me.")

I love how people somehow think that 2-3+ years of marriage without kids is a bad thing.

Loved your reply!

I LOVE your response to the no kids comment! How can other people decide when other couples should start their family?! It's such a personal decision, I'm amazed that people think they have a right to tell you to get busy! Haha

Love your response to not having kids yet! We get that quite often too... Or I get, "Can you two not have kids? Is that why you're going to graduate school?" aye!

good for you for sticking it to that person who was SO RUDE! why do people say such stupid things? just a guess - your RS president probably has marital problems and is jealous of yours & mitch's awesome marriage.

i have the greatest memories of your wedding reception. it was such a beautiful day. happy anniversary!

i had a religion teacher who actually had been trying for kids for a while, and his wife was kind of distraught about it and all the questions kind of upset her. there was one older lady in particular who was always cornering her and harrassing her, so one time when the lady asked the husband, "you're such a cute couple, you'd have darling kids, why don't you try and have some?" he replied, "because we don't like sex." that shut her up permanently! haha

belated congrats on your anniversary!

Yes, exactly what I would have said to that comment! Thats worse than asking someone when they are due and in fact they arent even pregnant.
