After more than 3 months of building, we have a finished home! We closed and moved in this weekend. We are grateful for an amazing superintendent who made sure that every small detail was taken care of… we absolutely love it.
I had a great time picking out the appliances, cabinets, subway tile (our favorite), countertops, beadboard behind the island, floors, lights, etc. and we are really pleased with the finished look. What we love most is the layout... the flow of the rooms and the downstairs entryway. It really keeps the entry from crowding the living spaces. And we are proud of ourselves for buying it all on our own :)
We definitely picked a busy time to close on our place; I’ve been working every night (almost all night) on finishing my prospectus for my master’s project, Mitch and I have had busy busy work schedules, and we’re heading to Seattle this week for Thanksgiving. It will be nice to get done with these things so we can get home to relax and have a minute to enjoy our new place. Thank you to our old and new wards for helping us move everything in two and a half hours!
Shot from the outside.

Looking into the kitchen.

We love how the subway tile turned out.

Living room and stairs.

Dining area, powder room, & laundry.

Master bath.

Upstairs hall bath.

My new front-loaders. I pray I never have to go to the laundromat on 2nd South ever again!! (Please know how terrible it is to fold your garments in front of other people.)

Holy cow, that place is amazing! Way to go!! I'm very, very happy for you. And I'm just thinking about how much room there is in your living room for us to do yoga :) ... Someday!

Wow! I love it. It must be so nice to have everything NEW and CLEAN. Beautiful!
What a gorgeous place! I am so jealous! Where in SLC are you living?
It's beautiful!
I have to admit I'm a little jealous of such a nice place. Only two and a half more years of grad school...then we're through renting! Congratulations on the new place.
Love it!!!
Amazing decorative choices! Love the espresso cabinets with subway tile - you really couldn't go wrong (especially with those countertops!) - and I love how wide the floor boards are. I just can't tell you how excited I am to come visit with my FOUR kids!!! Ha ha ha. Congrats!
Congrats! The place looks beautiful. You definitely need to take some time to enjoy it.

Check that... now I can view your blog. Weird, I don't know what happened. IT LOOKS FANTASTIC! I can't wait to come and see it first hand! You guys, this is so exciting. When can we come and see it? I know you are both probably so busy, but we want to come and stop by! Let us know.
Oh my goodness!!!! Your place is absolutely beautiful! Pretty sure we have the same taste...I would have picked all of the same fixtures and colors. Yeah, we have great taste ;) How exciting for you guys! I can't wait until we have a place that we own!!
I'm drooling right now! Sure beats Harmony Square, huh?

Your new home is beautiful! I hear you on the laundry issues.
That is so fun! I can't wait to see it all decorated... happy holidays!!
Congrats on the new home!! That has got to be so exciting! It looks absolutely amazing!
M- Don't know when we are coming to visit/see the new place...we haven't been invited?! :)
First of all you are known as M when I am too lazy to type your whole name...5 letters is a lot you know. Second of all, I couldn't come with ma/pa because Sean and I had stuff we needed to get done, that is why our movie was so early in the morning. If I were you, I would wait on the Sunday dinner, Sean and I are on a diet, and probably can't eat what you would make, not that we don't want too....we just can't. Unless that is, you want to make something on our approved list...
shannon i LOVE the cabinets and how open that kitchen is! where are these in slc? congrats- i bet it feels so nice to move in to your own, complete place!
so cute shannon! are you sure you don't want to trade for our one-bedroom with uneven flooring?? hahaha. must feel awesome to be home owners.
Beautiful! I'm totally jealous.
it's gorgeous Shan. when matt and i come out we'll stay with you :)
Hooray!!
I want one.
Tell me when and I'll come paint.
Beautiful! I think you might own a condo in the same place as my sister-in-law and brother-in-law. They have a couple of different facades and the one you showed I think might be the other variety that is in their complex, but I can't tell for sure. In any case, that is so awesome you get to have such a nice place to come home to.
We are so excited to have you in the neighborhood!!
