Voting

Today we were at the polls with a fragile 96-year-old woman who couldn't remember the last four of her SSN. Bless her heart for coming out in the rain to vote!

Also, there was a couple behind us who was asking about our voter information packet (you know, with ALL the information about the propositions, candidates, constitutional ammendments, etc.?). They had never seen it before; they had to borrow ours to quickly scan the issues being voting on in Utah. They were clearly not ready to vote!

K, I just have to say I'm so jealous! I want that vacuum so bad! (If you told me 10 years ago I'd be saying that, I'd say you were crazy) And I loved your costume! That's such a great idea! And the pictures of autumn are beautiful! That's one thing I miss about Utah.

i meant to blog about this but i never did, so i'll just tell you. :) i voted in a nursing home and so there was this old guy, complete with walker, dentures, and oxygen tank in front of me in line. he was making friendly conversation with me. he turned to me and pointing around the room to other voters said, "half these people don't even know their own names and here they are voting". probably true, but i explained that it was their way of exercizing their last bit of independence. but i agree with you, it was just good to have them there voting.
