Grad School Graduation

This weekend we had a great time at my graduation commencement and convocation ceremonies. I must say, however, that it is quite hard to sit through hearing hundreds of students' names read after you're already done.

We did love listening to David McCullough's speech. We heard he never uses the same commencement talk twice, so we were hoping this was written specifically for us. Some of his best quotes were:
- "We must rise above avarice, indifference, and self-pity."
- "History serves as a ready antidote to the hubris of the present."
- "Don't make the simple mistake of confusing ease and possession with happiness."

When one spouse goes to grad school, both do!
People say I look like my dad... even though he's a man in his 50s, it still makes me happy.
The wonderful Cornelius family.
My great friend Carrol from my program... we were the only people who finished our theses on time to graduate!

Congrats Shannon! I am so happy that your long stressful nights are over. Too bad more may come just around the corner. Ha ha. I am really excited for you. You are such a determined person. You look great in the cap and gown. Now get out of here and go on a much needed vacation!

Congrats on graduating, that is SUCH an accomplishment! You are an inspiration. It took Bubba and I two years longer than it should have, but we graduated too...finally. I DEFINITELY appreciate that you graduated from Grad school. That's truly amazing. CONGRATS!
