Exciting News

Mitch and I are excited and overjoyed to announce that we are expecting a baby in November! We are just over 12 weeks along and feel grateful to have made it this far in the pregnancy. We are due the Sunday before Thanksgiving - November 22nd.

Our gratefulness for this blessing comes in a form we never could have expected... For those I may not have shared with, we had a miscarriage in December, and have since been thoughtfully contemplating the sacred blessing of parenthood and the challenges of pregnancy. We had a hard time discussing the miscarriage when it happened, and were shocked to realize how emotionally painful it could be to lose an embryo that you've never even seen, but still felt very attached to. We were also surprised at the physical pain involved. Since this trial, we have come to know and understand that this trial, as well as fertility trials, loss of children, and other related trials are somewhat common though often not widely discussed. We are overwhelmed with joy, but understand the trials of this process. We hope to be respectful of all those around us who hope for children but for some reason cannot have them. We still pray everyday that our growing baby can be healthy and strong, and have been on edge about making sure the baby is okay.

I am also grateful to be ending the first trimester, as my sickness has been subsiding. Throwing up every morning is definitely not fun! I have a newfound respect for mothers and pregnant women everywhere.

Overall, we are elated to be parents... Mitch and I talk to the baby every day and even have started singing to it (which is a scary thought if you've ever heard me sing).

Here's a shot of the 11 week ultrasound. Hearing the heartbeat was unbelievable! A 2 inch baby has a heartbeat. I still cannot believe it.  We cannot wait for our little Thanksgiving baby.

We had a lot of fun telling our family over the past week; we especially love that Mitch's parents live nearby, so we could tell them in person. We had a great time making mugs at Color Me Mine for Grandma and Grandpa C! Here we are at dinner breaking the news... Terri was so excited she knocked the water over hugging me across the table!

CONGRATULATIoNS!!! That really is so exciting. That little heartbeat is the BEST sound in the whole world. The second trimester rocks...you have energy, can eat what you want and don't have to go to the bathroom three times a night!

Are you going to find out boy or girl? We have less than three weeks until we find out!

Ahhhhhhh!!! This is the best news EVER!!! Did you bawl your eyes out when you heard the heartbeat and saw your baby moving on the ultrasound? I was laughing uncontrollably and crying at the same time...like you said, you are so attached to that little life so early! Well I'm due on Tue. the 24th, so we'll have babies the same age! What if they're born on the same day?! So so so exciting! I'm so happy for you guys :)

woohoo!!! what fabulous news! i am so excited for you.

that was a really sensitive post to think of others. i'm not one who gets offended when others don't, but i know of people who do...you would not believe how many people there out there who've miscarried or experienced trouble getting pregnant and are straight up angry about it. angry at others for being pregnant, angry at god, angry at the world. that's always baffled me. like somehow a friend getting pregnant reduces their own chances of conceiving. anyway sorry about the tirade. just wanted to thank you for thinking of others as you shared your great news!

glad that the "feeling yucky" is subsiding. can't wait to get updates, belly shots, and find out what you're having--keep us posted! :)
