Overall I've felt great the past 4 weeks or so. I've thrown up a couple times, which is disconcerting when I hear of people who never get sick! But overall I am so happy to be pregnant and to thus far have a healthy boy growing inside of me, I'm trying to be optimistic about it. Maybe I'll just never be one of those women with a super easy pregnancy!
We had our 5 month check up 2 weeks ago and found that our little boy is very healthy--4 heart valves, strong cerebral cord, brain, spine, 2 arms/legs, etc. This appointment is somewhat nerveracking to prepare for, because they'll tell you of any major problems here. We are glad it went well. Here is a shot of our little guy!

Embarrassingly, my doctor told me at my last appt. that I've gained about 5 more lbs. than I should have at this point in my pregnancy. (Not that I don't feel bad enough already about all the weight I've gained!) I feel bloated all the time... and I've still been going to the gym and eating pretty well, so I kind of feel that there's not much else I can do. It made me feel self-conscious though, so I've been trying to be stricter about my portions.
One thing my doctor did say was that eating a higher ratio of protein will really help me to metabolise my food more efficiently. To attempt this, I started buying whey protein powder to blend with a banana and milk for breakfast. This gives me a lot of protein with no fat, however, I throw up if I drink if for breakfast. Now I've had to improvise by bringing to work to drink later. I hope I can figure out all this protein, as I'm naturally such a carb lover.
Ups and downs of the past 2 months have included:
-Feeling our baby kick for the first time (now he kicks my bladder all the time... I have to go to the bathroom at least every hour!)
- Throwing up at work for the first time... ugh. Luckily I can hold it down well when I need to, so I was able to get to the toilet in time, but still terrible.
-Being able to really fill out my maternity shirts (it's nice when you get to the point where you actually look pregnant, instead of just really thick ;)
-Pricing out hospital costs and insurance details (not a fun process, but I'm glad to have it all squared away and taken care of)
-Being grateful for a somewhat comfortable stage of pregnancy, where I can still see my feet and bend over. I'm sure this will rapidly be changing in the coming weeks.
-Being tired all the time... not just after going up a flight of stairs, but sleepy all the time. Everyday at work I get tired around 2pm. Siesta anyone?
-Feeling hilarious when I workout... I can't run on the treadmill so I have to walk fast with a really steep incline to get a good workout. I feel so slow!
Here are my 22 week shots:

You look great!
Cute!! I'm glad the appointment went well.
I read through your highs and lows and I totally understand what you are saying. Sounds like we have a lot of the same symptoms in pregnancy. The bladder thing for sure and stressing about insurance heck yes!! I also had an appointment when I gained too much weight and they made me feel so guilty but I kind of figure our bodies know what they are doing too. You look adorable. Exciting!
You look great Shannon! You are doing such a great job, by still working out during your pregnancy and really watching what you eat. You are an amazing woman! Don't get to self-conscious on all that stuff is part of pregnancy and we all understand. I was sick for 3 1/2 months with Chase. This time around, I haven't been as sick, but still get nausesous. You guys are going to be great parents. I'm so excited for you!
You look great and you are almost there. Enjoy being able to tie your shoes and put on socks, it will soon change.
Oh boy do I understand! Don't worry, once the summer is over things will get more comfortable and you won't even need to wear a coat when everyone else is ;) You really look great. Don't stress about the weight gain. It sounds like you are being very healthy. If you gain a little more here or there, you can't feel guilty about it. I have tried to be more cautious this time around because I gained more than I should have with Adie. However, especially in the third trimester, I have started to get sick or extremely tired (more than normal) if I don't eat enough. You just have to go with what works for you. Good luck navigating all the not so fun parts of pregnancy. You are on the downhill slope now though. Yay!
Love the outfit.
Baby Boy C & You look adorable! Isn't it reassuring to hear that everything is developing correctly? That ultrasound gave me such peace. I feel you on being hot all the time...whew. Every Sunday at church I am like a giant fireball. It gets so hot in the Nursery with all of the kiddos playing!
cute top. seriously. love it.
You are one hot and gorgeous mama! I love the mustard walls as a backdrop.
How come every time I look at your pictures, I seem to absorb fashion inspiration subconsciously? Thanks for being my trend setter.
Oh and you really do look quite wonderful.
You look gorgeous. I get tired around 2 p.m. too. I will take a nap for an in behalf of you (two).
Love the outfit, you look great! Don't stress about the weight, it comes off I promise and your little baby needs it! Sorry to hear you are feeling sick though, hopefully that will go away soon.
Amen to everything you said. Finally looking pregnant and feeling a healthy baby move is the best. Gaining weight no matter how healthy you are being...not the best. You are looking great!
You look great Shannon!! This baby boy is so lucky to have such a great and healthy mom!
