Puerto Rico!

We had a great time with Jules and Michael on our Puerto Rico trip! We think it is a great vacation destination because it has gorgeous beaches, rainforest, and a ton of world history and culture in one spot. It is so hard to come home from vacation... I woke up yesterday and thought "Hey, where's my room service and where's the pool boy to bring me drinks?!"

The craziest part of our trip was our emergency plane landing in BERMUDA on the way there, to get a sick older woman to a hospital! I never thought that's how I'd experience Bermuda for the first time--at the airport on the tarmac with ambulances all around.

The highlights of our trip included:
-Night kayaking in the Bioluminescent Bay (one of 7 in the world!) with the glowing photoplankton
-Snorkeling atop the coral at our beach
-Hiking in El Yunque rainforest
-Banana stuffed French toast breakfasts
-Passion fruit juice and all around amazing fruit
-Mofongos! (traditional Puerto Rican meal made of mashed plaintains and meat)
-Learning about San Juan as the first port into the Caribbean from Europe, and a controlling center for the West Indies/South American trade

{warning: lots of photos!}
The gorgeous ocean

El Yunque Rainforest (240 inches of rain per year!)

Hanging out at our hotel

The best dancing couple around!

Our large iguana friend

The view from downtown San Juan

El Morro Fort
Mitchy :)

Downtown San Juan reminded me of a mixture of Venice, Paris, and someplace in Mexico! So unique.

Indigo-dyed street bricks

Platos--the best restaurant in Puerto Rico!

They wouldn't let us bring cameras into the Mangrove forest kayaking into the bioluminescent bay, but I found these pictures online of what it looks like... we had nearly a full moon on our night, so it wasn't as bright as this picture, but pretty close. So interesting and cool!

What a fantastic trip! I'm so jealous! I LOVED seeing you at the Market Saturday. You look absolutely fabulous. We really do need to go for waffles one of these weekends.

As for the crib, I say go for it. We love it! It's very classic, and looks good with pretty much any bedding. We were impressed with the quality as well, especially for the price. Speaking of bedding, the boy version of the bedding we got is absolutely adorable. It has little marching elephants on it. I told Reece that I want to buy it now, in case we have a boy in the future. You should check it out! Target, all the way :)

Great pictures of you two! Who took those anyway???

It amazes me how you always seem to look so cute and current while expecting. Thanks for the style inspiration. (I've already received multiple compliments on the clothes you gave me - that i'm wearing everyday now!)

Thanks for a great trip and special memories.

Those pictures made me smile so big. I really need to get back there. I am glad you had such a good time and that you liked Mofongo and passion fruit juice. Those were a couple of my faves. What did you think of arroz y habichuelas? Surely you tried that, but maybe not with the pigs' feet...?

We are trying to decide what to do for our anniversary/babymoon! And since we're having a baby girl, our kids have to get married!! haha
