The Nursery

I have been meaning to post these pictures for several weeks to honor Mitch’s hard work in the nursery! He finished with the woodworking a couple weeks ago, and we have since been setting up the crib, building the dresser, and shopping for a glider. The room isn’t completely done but we really like how it’s turned out so far. Our glider is being delivered this week and we are also still waiting on several essentials like our crib mattress, hamper, changing pad, etc.

I looked at a lot of nurseries online when trying to decide the decoration scheme for the room, but found them all to be really loud and busy (tons of wild, bright colors and many different wall shapes and overwhelming art). I decided I really wanted to do something calmer and cleaner so this room would feel relaxing for the baby (well I guess probably more for me, seeing as the baby probably doesn’t care at all what the room is like!). We love the simple and preppy colors of the turtle collection and I think the taupe paint works well because it could also be used for a girls’ room or even for an office or guest room. I will need to post more when we get it all done, but this is a start.

Thank you to my wonderful handy-man, woodworking, can-build-anything husband for all his hard work designing and constructing the wainscoting, painting, putting in the ceiling fan, and indulging my request to build a ledge atop the paneling. Thank you thank you thank you! I love it.

I love it! It is so clean and classy. Good work you guys. And way to stick to your guns about work. That is crazy how much they are 'tempting' you. Consider it a compliment as to how well you've done there.

Absolutely extraordinary. Now I can add number 4,528 to the list of amazing things ol' Mitchie can do. This is magazine worthy - the design and construction of the walls alone, incredible. Then add the happy turtle motif and voila... baby (& mommy) utopia.

Way to go you two!

How I love wainscoting! The nursery looks awesome. Good work turning down your work. I can imagine how tempting that was, but speaking from personal experience, the sanity you'll have from just staying home is worth resisting the temptation. You'll love being at home, most day ;)

Holy cow, we have the same taste. I love it! We have the same color walls, and were going to do wainscoting but decided against it since we're just renting. If we owned it would be a different story! And we got the same type of carpet w/dark wood furniture. Crazy :) If we were having a boy our nurseries would end up looking identical! Haha Give ol' RC a big pat on the back for the hard work - it looks incredible!

It looks great! We almost chose a turtle pattern for our baby, but found a musical bear one instead. You guys are doing such an amazing job. Your baby is extremly lucky to have parents like you!

Now I know why you married your husband. Okay, he is faithful and good, and fun, but his skills are amazing! It looks stunning. I can't believe you did that!

For my birthday, you can do that to our bedroom if you want.
