California

Nearly all of our best friends from college live in California, so we’ve ended up making the trip every year since we’ve been married for some kind of event or vacation—our wedding reception in Mitch’s hometown, friends’ weddings, vacations, etc. We love seeing everyone and yes, it makes us kind of sad that we don’t live closer to our friends! We’re sad we didn’t get to see some of our LA friends too.

Our first day we spent with Elise & Jason. Elise graciously hosted us, though she was 3 days from having a baby! (Just gave birth to little boy Hudson—he is so adorable!). We had the best Mexican food I’ve had in a long time. Then we stayed up late laughing and chatting. A great day.IMG_5219 (1)

The next day we saw best friends from London for lunch, Jame & Jare. Scarlett and Emerson could not stop staring at each other. Last year at this time Jare and I were both pregnant. And Jamie is so good with kids and the most helpful person; as a mom, you are always grateful for friends who will help hold your baby for a minute so you can get a bite of your meal. These girls are the best.

The next several days we spent relaxing at the beach. Sarah is the most put-together host you’ve ever met; she had done a Costco-run before we got there so all the food was ready, meals were planned, she had the house clean, towels laid out, and beds made for 10+ guests.

We also had time for California’s best cinnamon rolls at Huntington Beach’s breakfast in the park. Nate and Mitch were nice enough to let us gush about all things girly, while they caught up and talked business.P1060489

I think E was slightly scared/shocked as to how loud 5 energetic girls can be.P1060485

Please try these cinnamon rolls if you live near Huntington Beach. They are insanely good and gooey.2874172991_6064237498_o[12]

It is good to be back and not living out of a suitcase, but I miss our friends already. When they visit us in Utah it’s just not nearly as exciting as living near the beach. If only I could move our affordable Utah townhome to a nice piece of land near the ocean.

How fun!! It looks like you had a blast!! And I can not believe how big E is! What a handsome little boy. Love that face. :) If you DO figure out a way to come down to Tempe with Mitch that would be awesome!! If not this time, maybe the next? Trip after trip can get exhausting. Just wish I could have been with you girls in Cali munching on one of those cinnamon rolls. I have the biggest sweet tooth... it's not a good thing. :) Haha!

So fun! I wish your affordable townhouse would move to LA & bring some empty ones for me to live in too.

PS: Don't feel sad about being pale-we're in the same "dang we're white!" boat as you.

Come back! The boys need to play!

And that cinnamon roll? I think I'm driving to HB in a few weeks to get one. Looks amazing!

Those pictures make me miss California so much! You girls party right. What could be better than the beach, a pedicure and those cinnamon rolls?

Okay, I had to do a double and a triple take when I saw the picture with you, Kim, Morgan, and Clarissa. What in the world? Friends from different times and places are meeting each other and galavanting in Southern California?! I love it and I love all of you girls! I only wish I could have joined the party.
