We had a pretty busy month around here, so I was slightly alarmed and bummed when I looked at the date today and realized it is already September. The summer is almost over, but luckily fall is the prettiest time in Utah. We have one last little trip planned for this weekend and then will probably be home for a while. Emerson and I have been busy going to the pool and doing mom lunches, taking our weekly trips to the library, working on a brain-builder activity book for babies and toddlers (well I’m mostly doing that, not E), a Book of Mormon read-a-thon, walks, playground trips, hiking, reading, and seeing friends (along with our anniversary, triathlon, and Mitch’s bday of course). Here are some pictures from the month:
Remember two years ago when we hiked Mt. Timp? Well we did it again a couple weekends ago. Mitch’s mom was so nice to come sleep at our house to be with E. Last time we did the full 14 mile hike to the very top ridge, but this time only made it about 12 miles. We forgot how tiring it can be to hike straight uphill over rocky terrain for 5 hours (and then the hike down which kills your knees).
I think Mitch’s dad was in better shape than any of us.
I’m trying to train Emerson to be a genius by letting him play with our TI-83. Seriously. Have you heard the studies about children and books that indicate just being around them helps kids learn to love reading (even if they just chew on the books?!). If he loves math, I will reference this tactic as the reason why.
Why buy toys for this kid when the diaper box provides at least 40 minutes of entertainment?
I am excited to see good friends this weekend in CA, but will be hoping this crazy wiggly kid can sit in the below seat calmly for our road trip. Wish us luck. I think we really need it.

I'm sort of sad to see the summer go, but fall really is the best in Utah. Let's hope we get a nice long season this year.
You are so creative and busy and wonderful. Good luck on your road trip!
Tell Mitch to drive faster!
And just let E get crazy in the back seat. Car seats, seat belts, over rated...we never wore them & turned out just fine. ;)
Ti-83? Haha I'm totally going to start that. And is he really wearing size 4 diapers?? And, don't you love those bottles? It's the only kind Scarlett will take.
Can't wait to see you!!
He is growing up so fast! I love how his hair is thickening right up. :) Cute, cute.
