Weekend Recap

On Friday our friends watched Emerson so we could sneak out for dinner and a movie. Oh how going on a date makes me appreciate alone time with Mitch—and holding hands! Really, it’s the simple things that make me happy here .

We went to one of our favorite restaurants in Sugar House. The hit of the meal was definitely our appetizer, the baked sesame crusted cream cheese with pears and crackers. Salivating now. Then we went to a movie and ate lots of candy. Sounds like a perfect night to me.

On Saturday we got up extremely early to see our friends be sealed to their adorable little girl. It was one of the best experiences of my life… I cannot describe the feeling of seeing that seal happen, and listening to the sealer’s words about how the seal makes it as if this child was physically born to her adoptive parents. We had some friends watch Emerson and he seemed happy to play with Lola while we were at the temple.

To thank our babysitting buds we decided to bring them some authentic Belgian waffles from Bruges—and of course we had to stop and eat some ourselves too.IMAG0242

That afternoon we attended a friend’s daughter’s 1st birthday party, and then spent the evening with some friends in Midway at the Zermatt. We got to take Emerson swimming and hot tubbing! He loved it. Mitch even dunked him under the water a couple times and he surprisingly liked it.

Sunday we had some friends over for dinner and I tried a new recipe for my Whip Up Something New challenge—pulled pork sandwiches and homemade rolls. I used Paula Deen’s recipe as a guide, but strayed from it a bit and omitted coleslaw. One of my friends brought the most amazing au gratin potatoes. I am still salivating over them. {So much for eating raw food this weekend.}IMG_7423

Check out Lola’s glasses on Emerson! Mitch was like, get those girly glasses off of him!IMG_7426

Lastly, my bangs are back (!). After I’d realized I’d had bangs for the past 6 years, I started trying to grow them out for the past 6 months. However, I’m done. I love bangs, I can’t be without them. I’ve given in.P1070196

Whew I’m tired just thinking about how busy we were. More to come this week on our cake class fail from last week. It was hilarious.

Aren't you happier when you have bangs?! I am. I feel sassy. And like I can conquer the world.

Oh & do you watch Man v. Food? Probably, the answer is no. But! This waffle place you speak of is highlighted on the show. And I want to try it.

And see you, obviously.
