Here are some snapshots from our day. On Christmas Eve we went for Sushi, our little family tradition, and made/decorated sugar cookies for Santa. Mitch and I had so much fun getting all the gifts ready for the kids that night.
We have the best sushi restaurant in Maple Grove called Mt. Fuji. It was delicious. (And my belly is getting huge!)
Christmas morning we got up, read some Christmas stories in bed with E while we waited for Genevieve to wake up, opened gifts (we love to do it one-by-one to see what everyone got and make it last longer—Emerson was a great little helper at handing out the presents), ate cinnamon rolls, lounged around playing with our new toys and looking at our new books, got ready and brought some cinnamon rolls to one of my dear friends whose newborn is stuck in the NICU, gave the kids naps, and I cooked a Christmas feast. We talked to lots of family and had a really relaxing time! Christmas with kids is so magical. Emerson was busting at the seams to see what Santa brought him. We did also try numerous times to remind Emerson why we celebrate Christmas and that we don’t in fact worship Santa. Really, that is tough stuff.
The most peaceful time of the Christmas season… everything is wrapped, kids are sleeping, and the house is silent.
Making my kids pose for a photo op before gift unwrapping.
I made a ham with a cranberry orange glaze on it. It made the house smell really good all day (which is lucky because we needed something to fend us off the pounds of candy we consumed). We also had stuffing, mashed potatoes, rolls, green beans, and of course some Martinelli’s. We love that stuff.
I also made another pumpkin pie because Mitch loved the Thanksgiving one so much. That’s a great dessert for me to make because I’m not a huge pumpkin pie fan, so it doesn’t tempt me to eat! Glad Mitch loves it.
Today I felt sad as I always do when Christmas is over! I love the Holidays and am sad to see them go, however I love the new year and am excited for making some goals and getting ready for our new baby. Merry Christmas!

I love your family traditions! I'm living vicariously through you until I start my own family because I love all the things you do with your little family. So so sweet!
I was sad when Christmas was over. We spent it in Idaho with my family and had so much fun. When we got back to Utah and took down our Christmas decorations all in one day, I literally almost started crying :) I'm glad you guys had such a fun Christmas. I love that picture of the kids in their jammies in front of the tree. What a fun time! Love and miss you!
