Christmas Activities 2012

This year we are spending our first Christmas together with just our little family and we actually have been so excited about it! We do really miss our family and friends but there is just something so special about being in your own home on Christmas and not stressing about holiday travel, gifts, and being away from home.

Here are the kids before Church on Christmas Sunday. We got some awesome shots of Genevieve in full on tantrum mode too. She did not want pictures that day! IMG_1700.JPG (2)

Minnesota has so many fun things going on for the Holidays. We visited Santa’s workshop and the amazing display at the Macy’s in down town Minneapolis:IMG_1091.JPG (2)

We went to Maple Grove’s Main Street Christmas Parade:IMG_0836.JPG (2)

Emerson had a Christmas party and singing program at his preschool. Emerson and his best friend Tanner had so much fun singing together. Jess and I were dying of laughter our boys were so cute.IMG_1302.JPG (2)

We did our traditional caramel neighbor gifts. We love caramels in this house!IMG_1246.JPG (2)

Crafting—I made a burlap bunting banner for our fireplace as well as some canvas bags for friends:IMG_0532.JPG (2)

We made Christmas sugar cookies and let the kids frost them.IMG_1472

We loved hearing from our friends near and far and seeing their lovely faces up all month on our Christmas card banister:IMG_1438.JPG (2)

And of course we sent out our own Christmas card – our 8th year of Christmas cards! We love looking back through the old ones and seeing how our family has changed (and grown!) and the experiences we’ve had together. image

We love this time of being able to teach Emerson about the birth of our Savior and about what gifts we can give to Jesus! Our bishop and his wife invited a bunch of families over for an FHE a couple weeks ago with Santa in their gorgeous home decked out in Christmas décor. We told Emerson when he met Santa to say he was thankful for Jesus and not to say what he wanted for Christmas. I was so proud of him when he sat up there and said, “Santa, I’m thankful for Jesus!” It was really sweet. Emerson has been so excited however for Santa to come and bring a present. Whenever someone rings our doorbell he says, “it’s Santa!” I love his funny sayings. We are so excited for our little tradition of going out for sushi on Christmas eve, reading Luke 2, Christmas Oranges and The Polar Express, listening to Christmas music while we set up the kids’ gifts tonight, and spending the day as a family tomorrow.

Wishing everyone a wonderful Christmas!
