Joy School

This fall a couple friends and I decided it would be fun to put our 2 1/2 – 3 1/2 year-olds in a little joy school together. One of my friends had done this before and even had a lesson schedule with different topics! That made it really easy to plan and coordinate. With 6 kids, it meant we each only had to teach every 6 weeks. Going to this one morning a week, in addition to Emerson’s normal preschool one morning a week was actually kind of nice! It allowed me to get a lot of errands and things around the house done, spend some quality time with Vieve, and then feel especially refreshed to pick up E afterwards. I was able to snap a couple shots when I taught in October. Because 3 of us are having babies and one person just moved we’ve decided to stop, but it was fun for a bit!

We’d do welcome activities like weather, calendar, day, song, etc., then a lesson on a certain topic, then a craft, snack, and then free play time. We had lots of fun letting the kids run wild. I loved this donut craft activity because it was an excuse to buy some donut treats for the kids (and me).

I moved some things around in our office early in the fall to make a preschool area. Now that Joy School is over I just do school time at home every morning with my kids. We actually have a lot of fun, though they can only sit still for about 10 minutes.

Chaos with kids running around. Genevieve loves having other kids over though.IMG_9773

I have to say it’s nice to not have one more thing to do every week but we will miss it! Emerson does love his preschool on Wednesdays though so that’s still fun for him to look forward to. I’m wondering if I’ll be able to make it to anything once we have our 3rd baby! I’m glad I was able to do this joy school while I had some time.
