Fall in Utah

Normally the nicest season in Utah is Fall. This year however, it’s been miserable. It was almost 90 degrees every day of Sept./Oct. until this week, when we had sleet/rain storms. I love the rain, don’t get me wrong, but it’s been freezing rain. And I hear next week it’s going back up to the 90s. Like I said, miserable. Where are my breezy 65 degree days? I’ve been lonely the past two weeks missing Mitch as he was traveling so much for work. He usually only travels every couple of months, but this month both trips happened really close together. I was having a particularly hard day on Friday when one of my best friends called… just hearing her message made me instantly feel better. Don’t you just think that friends can have a kind of ESP with each other, and just know when you need someone there?

Here’s what we’ve been up to:

Carly’s Birthday: Carly celebrated her bday and I made this cake for her party. I am really bad at writing letters on cakes, so I just printed a sign. Much easier. Happy birthday Car!

Paula Deen’s Red Velvet. So.rich.

Visitors for Conference: Leanne, Amber, and Mitch’s mission comp were all visiting for conference. We had a fun and full house.

Mom’s Lunch: We got the moms together for some ruckus at my place last week. Our whole floor was just covered with kids. It was slightly crazy but so much fun.

And the biggest news of the past week: one of my best friends Jordan got us tickets to OPRAH this week! Yes, Oprah. We have been trying to get on her last season show every week by writing essays about the show topics we like (this is what you have to do just to be in the audience). We were really excited about the show until we looked up tickets and found out they’d be about $1000 just for flights… but the fates aligned and we found a friend who works for an airline who got us buddy passes! We are leaving Weds. and bringing the boys with us to Chicago!! Yes, I am excited.
