My last monthly post for Emerson… I’ve loved recording tidbits about him each month and looking back to see how much he’s grown. We just had his 12-month appointment and here are the stats:
- Height: 31 inches (90th %)
- Head circumference: 47cm (75th %)
- Weight: 21 lbs. (25th %) –The doc couldn’t believe he’d jumped from 5th% to 25th%! We were a little relieved too that he isn’t so close to the edge anymore.
Here are all his chair shots from the past year—this kid is huge to me!
Here is some info about Emerson over the past month:
- Two days after he learned how to walk he started trying to run. Oh dear. He goes crazy toddling all over the house, up and now down the stairs, and trying to climb up onto our furniture and into our kitchen cabinets.
- We had a big play date / lunch with a bunch of moms at a friend’s house this month. They have a cool playroom and tons of little nooks for kids under the stairs—some of the kids were babies and toddlers but a few were about 5-7. They were running all over the house and E was trying to chase them. I think he thinks he’s a 5 year-old.
- When music is playing in our house or we’re singing hymns at church he sings too—he goes “ahhhhh, ahhh, ahh” in this really quiet voice.
- Also, when music is playing he dances and shakes his head left to right and back.
- He claps for himself when he does something well.
- He is an electronics nut (aren’t most babies?)… forget the kids toys, Emerson knows how to turn the Flip on and record a video, then turn it off!
- He loves veggies, fruits, and cheese. I honestly can’t believe it. I’ve been trying to give the kids sweets for his birthday and he hates them, but man he loves that rice and lentil dinner or turkey vegetable puree. What a weirdo.
- He loves turning the pages to all our books when we do reading time every morning.
- Ever since he was only a couple months old, he has been obsessed with dogs! It is kind of weird because we don’t have one, but Jordan’s dog Ollie (a big yellow lab) makes Emerson laugh out loud every time we’re over there. He chases Ollie and Cocoa (Mitch’s parents’ dog) around the house. If we ever have a yard we’ll have to get this kid a dog.
Here are some pictures from the month:
What is the biggest financial perk of having a skinny kid?? He fits into his 3 month sized winter snow suit from last year! Can you believe it?
Still just as helpful as ever in the kitchen. hah!
Notice the metal ladle in E’s lap. He loves this thing and carries it around everywhere.
Sometimes he tries to eat his food directly off the high chair tray! So funny to watch.
Mitch already taught him how to swing the bat.
Goodbye baby, hello toddler.

Yeah. He is a legitimate little boy!
I love all the pictures together to compare! He even weighs more than Hannah does. She is a skinny girl. The snowsuit made me laugh out loud!
haha I love ladel. Scarlett carries around her spoon everywhere.
I love the chair shots- I'm totally doing that with my next baby!
Miss you!
So adorable Shannon, I almost wouldn't recognize him he is getting to look so grown up. What a fun year you two have had and you've documented it every step of the way. Love it.
He's SO big!! So much for my dreams of holding him when you come to visit... more like chasing him around, right?? Oh, and he's AMAZINGLY cute too. :)
Love the new Nautilus seat!!
