Hands down my favorite holiday—food, cooking, family, friends, and relaxing. No gifts needed.
This year we had Thanksgiving dinner with my family at our house, then spent the evening with Mitch’s family for dessert. I’ve made Thanksgiving dinners with family at their houses before, but never made it and hosted it at our place. It was so fun to cook everything at our house (really I was excited to make each dish how I like it, lol… perks of being the cook!). I love cooking roasted turkeys (and chickens) for big groups because you can put them in and not worry about them while you get the other dishes ready.
This year I am thankful for our small family. We love this little guy!
Thankful for these boys… as well as a roof over our heads, Mitch’s job, our families, and our friends. We have the best friends here in Waverly Station and from college. Good people make life much more enjoyable.
Some other pictures from the day:
Emerson loves Jacoba. He kept running up to her to play all day.
I should also mention I’m thankful for sparkling cider…
And rosemary orange roasted turkey with lots of sides.
We wanted to do a family Turkey Trot, but it was only 5 degrees out all week and Emerson was sick last week, so I opted against it. Instead I pulled myself out of bed and made it to the gym at 6:30am. Man, that was brutal, but I’d have to say it is the best day of the year to work out. I felt a lot less guilty eating dinner after running and lifting weights in the morning.
I’m kicking myself for not taking pictures of the desserts at Mitch’s parents’ house. His sister and mom made pumpkin pie, key lime pie (a perfect way to add some tart to the day), the pumpkin roll, persimmon pudding, and cheesecake. The desserts were all so heavenly, I started thinking I should have worked out twice as long that morning so I could have more.
The rest of this weekend will be spent skiing, relaxing, addressing Christmas cards, watching the BYU/U game, working on some sewing projects, and braving the cold to hit some stores. Hope everyone had a great day.

I want to do a Thanksgiving do over looking at your food. And I seriously LOVE doing Turkey Trots - it does help you feel better about the rest of the day. Good for you for working out.
Cute pictures by the tree! I really love this time of year. And I can't believe you cooked Thanksgiving dinner?!? That's so exciting. It looks amazing and I'm sure it tasted equally amazing.
Your tree looks great! Your food looks great. And you look great (great job on the gym)!
Love that first picture. It needs a frame.
