This has been a calm year, which I’m very thankful for. Nearly every year of my 20s so far has had some huge event like going to London, getting married, graduating college, going to grad school, running a half marathon, buying a home, graduating grad school, having a baby, etc. So needless to say I’m happy for our slow year!
Here’s a recap:
Early in the year we watched Emerson get bigger and bigger. He was super active from a young age so we tried to help him channel that energy into activities like outings with friends, play dates, rolling over games, and lots of music and dancing.
As the weather got nicer we frequented baseball games and hiking trails.
In the middle of the year one of my best friends got married. We welcomed friends into town for the event.
In the summer we traveled to Texas to visit my sister and her family for several weeks. Then two days after returning we headed up to Seattle for a week of gorgeous northwest summer.
Late in the summer I completed my first triathlon (!), a goal I’d had since I was pregnant with E.
Then we headed off to California for a fun weekend with friends in Laguna Beach.
Soon after Mitch left for a week-long conference in Memphis, only to return and have Shannon go to California again. Then Mitch went to Arizona for work, and Shannon went to Chicago for Oprah, and then we both went to Arizona on Mitch’s company’s dime. Whew.
Later this year Mitch spent a week in Vegas for another conference, and we ended the year with our week-long trip to Seattle.
I’d say my first year of being a full-time stay-at-home mom was the best year I’ve ever had. No ulcers! And lots of time with my baby.
