4th of July

Independence Day in the Midwest is just wonderful. I feel like we are in the heartland here, minus the fact that we live in a suburb and not on a farm. We spent the morning at a tri-ward pancake breakfast. We chatted with friends until we were too sweaty to stay there much longer. It was 90 degrees and 60% humidity at 9am! Holy cow. I was sweating a lot.

Emerson loved his flags!IMG_6599

We have LDS neighbors 2 doors down so we did a joint BBQ with a bunch of friends. We put some kiddie pools and water toys outside for all the kids, had everyone bring a bunch of food, and ate, chatted and played word puzzle games. We had so much fun and the kids were exhausted by the end of the night, so. I’d say it was a success. We didn’t go out to see fireworks because I really can’t imagine that going over too well with two young kids, but we could see lots from our backyard. We are so grateful to live in a country where we are free to live, worship, and make decisions as we’d like. We love this country! Happy birthday America.

Winning! You are in THE heartlarnd, God's Country... it's all about the midwest :) And you're close enough to the farm! I keep thinking about those pretty horses we saw on the way back from Vieve's photo shoot. I really want to figure out a way to live out in the country someday!

The kids look darling. I love their pajamas. I'm so glad you enjoyed yourself despite the heat! It was just too much. I think I ended up with heat stroke on the 4th being out on the boat. Not good.

Want to know why we are such good friends? I wore that exact same JCrew tee on the Fourth. Can't wait to be matching in-laws. The kids will love it :)

These pics made me miss your babies even more. I'm seriously counting down the days to UCW!!!
