Emerson lately has been obsessed with Blue’s Clues, even though he barely ever watches the show. His little friend Michael had a birthday party a couple weeks ago and it sparked Emerson’s obsession. Michael’s mom mailed invitations to all the kids, and E just loved opening his own piece of mail. He carried it around in his pocket for a week! Of course he was over the moon by the time we got to the party. He and Michael sang the whole Blue’s Clues intro song. The girls all looked at them like they were crazy. Pretty funny.
Up until about 2 months ago Emerson was having a really hard time with FHE. We were doing lessons out of the nursery manual but he seemed really bored and bugged every time. So I decided to start making it fun, to give him a positive association with FHE. Since then we’ve done FHEs about rockets, airplanes, sharing toys and cars, and then a Blue’s Clues scavenger hunt. He loved it. We put clues all over the house and he had to find them to figure out what Blue wanted to do. I think we tied it into the church by searching the scriptures but it was definitely a stretch. At least he loves FHE now.
