The summers are so amazing here they (almost) make up for the terrible winters! I cannot believe how many fun things there are to do here all summer long. We’ve already had a blast at the beach, pool, splash pads, lakes, and more. Here are some snippets:
Elm Creek Beach (our filtered, man-made swimming beach) in Maple Grove with friends every week:
(We could do none of it without our awesome babysitter/summer nanny Abby who comes on lots of outings with us. My kids LOVE her. Like Genevieve likes her more than me… she won’t leave her side and calls her “MY Abby.” We love you Abby!)
Kid Concerts in the Park, Maple Grove Town Green:
Tanner & Emerson are inseparable. Even when they’re fighting they love each other. Jess and I think they’re like brothers—they love each other one minute and the next they’re tackling each other. So so funny.
Picnics & popsicles & pool in our back yard:
Parks—so many in MN!
The kids love the rocket park.
BBQs. At a BBQ the other week our friends brought this blow-up raft… the kids loved it.
Arbor Lakes Mall—every week they put on outdoor shows and events for kids. This week it was animals from the nature center.
Splash pad. There isn’t one in MG but my friend about 20 minutes away has one right by her house. We were stoked when she invited us to come over. No fear of drowning sounds nice to me.
The lake. There are lakes litereally everywhere here. Even though you can’t enjoy them 9 months of the year, they are gorgeous in the summer. We went to the lake with friends for a BBQ.
Some friends in our ward have Sea Doos and brought them to pull tubes. Emerson took his first tube ride and loved it!
The pool. The pool at our gym is great. There is an indoor pool with some kiddie slides and then some large waterslides. The outdoor pool has a play place for kids and a lazy river.
Wow I’m exhausted just looking through all these photos again! We’ve had a lot of fun this summer but it is definitely tiring taking the kids out, especially when there’s swim gear involved. But let me tell you after 7 months almost completely indoors, I’d do anything to be soaking up the warmth while it’s here. Thank you Minnesota summer for getting me out of my funk from winter.

So fun! Yes, our summers do make up for the winter, even if it's usually too hot or busy for me to really enjoy it. I think our falls are the best :)
I know St. Louis Park is a bit of a hike for you, but I just took my cute cousin to their rec center. It's a lot like the pools in Maple Grove, but it has an entire, giant sand area with fun toys. Your kids would love it!
I'm jealous of all the beaches and splash pads out there! I looks like you are soaking up as much sun as you can while it's there!
Summer is the best! Love Genevieve's cute polka dot suit with the flower.
